‘Ignite’ takes place during the 10:30am Sunday service for children aged 0-14yrs.
The whole church family worship together in the church at the beginning of the service, which includes an introduction to the day’s teaching in Ignite and a song using flags or actions. Then the children and young people are invited to leave for the church centre with their leaders for Bible teaching which involves games, craft, prayer and a heavy dose of FUN! The Bible story is always at the heart of what we do and the children are asked to apply what they have learnt to their own lives at a level they can understand.
There are three Ignite groups:-
Sparklers – 0-4 years
Firecrackers – 4-11 years
Dynamite – 11-14 years
‘Ignite’ happens each Sunday, except the fourth Sunday of the month when the Ignite team help to lead the 4th@4 service in the afternoon. In the school holidays, ‘Ignite Lite’ condenses the groups into one but still teaches the word of God in an interactive way with lots of fun.
Each session is led by an enthusiastic team of leaders who work together to produce an event which is fun, challenging and truly life enriching for all involved. Holy Trinity is fully compliant with the Diocese of Chelmsford’s Safeguarding Policy which covers child protection procedures and legislation for the safety of children, parents and leaders. We strive to provide a safe and caring environment for young people to grow in faith and friendship with God and each other.
Matthew 3:11 says:
“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
At Ignite we aim to give Jesus the opportunity to baptise us all, children and leaders, with the Holy Spirit and fire, each Sunday, each week and for the rest of our lives.
Autumn 2017 Term
During the autumn term Sparklers, Firecrackers and Dynamite will be looking at stories from the Old Testament. Last autumn we saw how God helped Elijah and Elisha to deliver God's message and this year we will be taking up the story again with Jonah, Isaiah, Daniel, Esther, Ezra and Nehemiah. How do they stay strong and loyal to God even in the most difficult of times? And of course, we will be looking at what their stories can teach us as we live our lives as faithful children of God.
