In addition to encouraging personal daily prayer the people of the church gather to pray in the following ways:-
Weekly at the touchstone - 10 am every Tuesday
'The Touchstone' is about half an hour of prayers and continues in fellowship over coffee afterwards. We pray for one of our three prayer categories each week and share communion on the second Tuesday of the month.
We call it the touchstone because:-
1. the Psalmist describes God as 'Our Rock'. Prayer sets our faith firmly on the 'Rock of our Salvation' promised by God. In our prayers we receive his strength for a life of faith.
2. the Bible calls us as 'Living Stones' built into a holy Temple in the Lord. In our Fellowship and prayers we keep in touch with each other, physically and spiritually. God's people together.
3. the Bible also calls Jesus the 'cornerstone'. At the corners of the Temple in Jerusalem were great stones, perfectly square. The walls were built in line with these stones length, height and depth. In our prayers we keep in touch with Jesus and align ourselves with him, becoming like him in his goodness.
